Do you find it difficult to get out of the shower?

Don't worry. We've all been there!

Spending too long in the shower is a common problem many people face these days. After all, who doesn't love the feeling of a warm shower after a hard day at work, right!?

Regardless of your reason, you can see why a shower timer can come in handy. If you're a shower addict, you can set a timer, so you know when to get out.

In this article, we are going to take a more in-depth look at the best shower timers.

Before we dive in, my top pick is the Dretec Digital Timer. Not only does it look great in your bathroom, but it's easy to use, and the waterproof feature is second to none.

Why I'm Qualified

Testing different alarm clocks has been a big part of my life for many years. Through trial and error, I've learned which ones are best for certain things.

Not only that, but I'd consider myself an expert when it comes to showering as well.

I mean, I've been doing it since I was born!

Dretec Digital Timer

Best Feature: Magnetic Back

The Dretec Digital Timer never fails to impress me. Not only does it have a back stand, but it also has a magnetic back, so it can be attached to anything metal in the bathroom.

When it comes to the timer, there are buttons for 10 minute, 1 minute, and 10-second intervals. While you don't have to use these buttons to set the timer, they are easy to access and great to have.

But one question remains.

How is the waterproof feature?

Based on previous customer input, the waterproof feature works. In fact, it's one of the most talked-about aspects of this timer.

What's more, when the alarm goes off, it's loud enough to hear, even over the sound of a running shower. Once the alarm has finished sounding after 15 seconds, you can press the start button to repeat the cycle.

This could be considered a blessing or curse, depending on how you look at it.

In terms of downsides, I found there is only one magnet on the back. While it still holds onto most metals, it isn't super strong.

Also, while it does come with an instruction manual, it actually makes the whole process more confusing. Luckily, setting up this timer isn't complicated and probably won't require the instruction booklet.

  • Has a back stand
  • Magnetic back
  • The waterproof feature works great
  • The alarm is loud enough to hear
  • Very easy to set up

  • The instruction manual is well-written
  • The magnetic back isn't the strongest on the market

BALDR LCD Waterproof Shower Clock

Best Feature: Can Be Attached to Your Tiles or Mirror

The Baldr Shower Clock is essential for people trying to time their showers and save water. It's completely waterproof with a splash rating of IP24.

Heck, you can even bring it into the shower with you if you want!

When you compare this one to the Dretec Digital Timer, there is a major difference. Rather than having a magnet on the back, it has a suction cup.

While it isn't going to make too big a difference on the holding power, a suction cup is the better option for the shower. The reason for this is because you can attach it to your bathroom mirror or tiles.

Which everybody has, right!?

What's more, unlike the previous timer, this one will keep beeping until you stop it. This means you'll need to leave the shower to disable it, which is a nice perk to have.

So how about the downsides!?

I found the suction cup will disconnect every few weeks. To prevent this from happening, I recommend readjusting it every week.

Also, the battery only lasts around three months.

  • Waterproof with an IP24 splash rating
  • Has a suction cup rather than a magnet
  • Won't stop beeping, meaning you have to get out of the shower to disable it
  • Comes with an instruction manual
  • Includes a temperature sensor

  • The suction cup comes loose every few weeks
  • The battery only lasts for three months

JLENOVEG Digital Shower Timer

Best Feature: Large and Easy to Ready Display

The JLENOVEG Shower Timer is very similar to the BALDR Timer. They both have temperature sensors and suction cups to hold them in place.

However, the JLENOVEG Timer shouldn't be used on tiles. The suction cup isn't as powerful and may come loose.

Therefore, it's only worth purchasing this timer if your shower is surrounded by glass or you have a mirror.

What's more, the display is large enough for people to see without glasses, which is essential when showering.

There is also a back stand, in case you want to place it on a small cabinet or sink in your bathroom. This works great when you don't want to know how much time you've got left in the shower.

Furthermore, this isn't the easiest timer to set up.

At least you'll have the instruction manual to help you out, though!

  • Built-in temperature sensor
  • Large and easy to read display (you won't need glasses)
  • Includes a back stand
  • Durable casing
  • Has instruction manual

  • Takes a while to learn how to operate
  • Not recommended to be used on bathroom tiles

KADAMS Digital Bathroom Wall Clock

Best Feature: Can Be Permanently Mounted On The Wall

One thing that stood out about this timer is the alarm sound. Rather than being loud and obnoxious, it's quiet but still loud enough to hear while in the shower. I like this feature because it lets you shower early in the morning without waking up everybody else in the house.

Not only does this timer come with a back stand and suction cup, but it can also be mounted onto your bathroom wall. I prefer this option as it prevents the possibility of it coming loose and getting damaged.

If you are using the suction cup and it does come loose, it's made from durable plastic, which will help prevent it from breaking.

What's more, the display screen is large and easy to read. Also, it doesn't fog up too bad while the shower is running.

In terms of downsides, I discovered that the 2 AAA batteries aren't included with your purchase.

Also, the buttons can be a little sensitive, causing you to over-set the time.

  • Not loud enough to wake up your family members
  • Comes with a suction cup, wall mount option, and back stand
  • Made from durable plastic to prevent damage
  • Large easy to read display screen
  • The build-up of fog doesn't prevent you from seeing the time

  • Buttons can be a little sensitive
  • Doesn't include batteries

Homemelinda Waterproof Bathroom Clock and Timer

Best Feature: Can Be Hanged Over Doorknob

Check Price on Amazon

The Homemelinda Bathroom Timer is similar to most of the options on this list; however, it has an extra feature.

Attached to the top is a small piece of rope. This rope can be used to hang the timer over the bathroom doorknob.

While this feature may not be necessary, it's great to have in case the suction cup malfunctions.

Talking of the suction cup, it's not one of the most reliable on the market. Many customers have complained about how it falls off after a few weeks. To prevent this from happening, you can use the back stand.

What's more, it's available in a variety of different colors, which also makes it unique from other timers on this list. You'll be able to choose from green, blue, black, pink, or white.

Also, after extensive research, I found some people were experiencing problems after a few weeks/months. One of the most common issues people face is the clock malfunctioning because of water damage.

In these scenarios, replacement clocks were sent without question.

  • Can be hanged on the bathroom doorknob
  • Comes in a number of different colors
  • Has a temperature sensor
  • 10 and 1-minute timer buttons
  • Large display screen

  • The suction cup doesn't last long
  • Some customers had to get a replacement

Shower Timers - Buyer's Guide

When you get a timer for your bathroom, it needs to be waterproof, right!? Even if it doesn't come into direct contact with water, the dampness in the air could cause damage if it isn't waterproof.

In most cases, you'll find timers that are waterproof or water-resistant.

Waterproof means it can be submerged in water for an extended period of time without getting damaged.

Water-resistant means it can withstand droplets of water.

Both these types of timers are suitable for your shower; however, waterproof ones are obviously stronger.

Because shower timers are attached to your mirror or walls using a suction cup, they may occasionally come loose and fall on the floor. If this happens, you need a timer that's durable and can withstand the occasional fall.

Different Functions

Some shower timers come with different functions, such as the ability to detect the temperature. This is a great feature to have; however, it's not essential and won't help you get out of the shower on time.

Shower steam is going to make your timers more difficult to see. For that reason, you need to get something with a big display screen. That way, you'll have a better understanding of how long you've got left.

If, however, you don't want to know how little time is left in your shower, you can overlook this feature.

Ease of use

Over the years, I've discovered just how difficult some timers and alarm clocks are to set up. It's not uncommon for older people to purchase clocks, only to realize it's too difficult to set up.

To prevent this from happening to yourself, stick with clocks that come with instructional manuals.

Final Verdict

Keeping a shower timer is essential if you want to limit your time in the shower and save on the water bill.

Or maybe it's the kids who are running up the water bill?

Regardless of your situation, I recommend the DRETEC Digital Timer. The waterproof feature is second to none, and it comes with a magnetic back so you can attach it to the shower curtain rail.
